Our Mission

To build a permanent, powerful, strategic and inclusive progressive movement in Georgia that advances a more racially just Democracy supported by a network of donors and funders. GAP advances progressive wins in Georgia by working in partnership with civic engagement institutions with a focus on those that are led by and serve people of color.

OUR VISION

We envision a Georgia that is socially and racially just and equitable in ways that can be seen, felt, touched, and heard. Our Georgia centers the well-being of every child, family, and neighborhood – no matter their economic circumstance. Our Georgia invests in equitable access to high quality public education, reliable healthcare, and a thriving economy that prioritizes those in greatest need. This is a Georgia built on a reflective, transparent, and responsive democratic process that people trust and believe in.

Our History

The Georgia Alliance is the only organization in Georgia purposed to align multiple political and philanthropic vehicles to advance our state’s progressive movement. We are committed to civic engagement, communications, advocacy, leadership development, coalition building, and grassroots community organizing in Georgia year-round: before, during, and beyond the traditional election cycle.

2014

Georgia Alliance launched in 2014 with four members who raised $300,000.

In 2014, the Alliance built and launched Georgia Engaged, our state c4 table, which joined the AmericaVotes network in 2020 as AmericaVotes Georgia.

2016

In 2016 Georgia Alliance built and launched Represent Georgia to provide leadership development and candidate recruitment in Georgia.

2020

In 2020, the Alliance launched Progress Georgia, a digital and communications hub for the progressive movement in Georgia. We hired its first Executive Director to support the development of a robust press and research shop. Part of the Progress Now network, Progress Georgia is a statewide multi-issue organization that provides message and communications leadership and infrastructure on behalf of a broad coalition of organizations fighting for our values in Georgia.

2022

In response to voter suppression legislation enacted by our state legislator, we began the incubation of Collective Renaissance Georgia in 2022 to engage, educate, and activate young Black people with the goal of increasing their power.

2023 and beyond

In an effort to build a more civically literate and engaged electorate in preparation for the 2024 elections, our focus in 2023 and 2024 turns toward deepening civic literacy and capacity building for our partner organizations through communications, research, and training.
